Welcome softee!Like frosty said, getting up is one of the hardest parts to learn, but everyone has their ownway of getting back on their board. The way i do it, is if im on my back, i roll over to my stomach, and use my knees to stand up. just like it was natural. You can get onto your knees sitting straightup and plan your direction without being on the board. Then when you're ready, push up, andturn down the mountain. Its the easiest way to get up from what I've seen. Once you get better, and start riding faster, you'll figure out how to use your momentum to get right back up in motionwhen you fall.As far as the bindings go, i prefer traditional bindings. Though they're harder to get in and out ofthan the step ins that you get as a rental, but to me the offer more support. Though they're harder to get in and out ofthan the step ins that you get as a rental, but to me the offer more support. The resorts use step ins as convenience to make it simpler for people just starting out, cause honestly, if they handed you traditional bindings right out of the gate, alot of people would quit snowboarding (like it was back in the day before good step ins…alot of people got frustraited with strapping in every time the fell and hand to use their feet to get back up).And the boots, if your boots are a size too big, you run a real risk of getting hurt badly. your foot can come out of the boot, or worse, just getting stuck half way out, and you could shatter your leg or ankle this way. Its not meant to scare you, just to inform you of the dangers of not having the proper equipment. The whole sport is scary enough! A good rule of thumb is, your snowboard boots will be the same size as any boot you wear (if you've ever worn timbs before). They should be tight, yet comfortable, and you should not be able to pull your foot out of it when its laced up no matter what.Once again, welcome to the site and welcome to the sport!Dont be embarrassed about falling, everyone does all of the time. And if people laugh when you fall, its either because you had a good wreck (which is funny as long as no one gets hurt) or they're just !@#$ in which they'll get whats comming to them.If you have any other questions feel free to ask any of us! lock up that envi! i lock up my grudge. wayyy too much money at stake. you know? but i use the cheap resort locks outside. they're like 0.50 or 0.75 but you cant get the boards out, even if you remove the bindings. and ive seen bindings hanging from a lock before, so i know people have taken boards that way, even locked. just be careful,
this is so true. the guy that creamed me was wearing one of those space age stealth suitsthat looked like a diving outfit, complete with aerodynamic helmet…ahhaha.but i did find the exception to the rule. i met this guy when i first got there named steve ithink. i cant exactly remember, BUT i do remember him getting out of the car with whitehair (yes, he was probably 60+) and pulling a k2 fat bob from the mid 90's out of the backof his land rover, wearing a full on burton snowboard outfit designed for my generation.best of all, and this is why i had to meet him, he was sporting switch type-x bindings.these were my all time fav step ins, but finding boots to fit them were a major problem, especially in the south. a fat bob with switch x's was my dream setup when i bought myk2 dart soooo many years ago.
i use heat for that crappy booger tape that most of the foam stomps use. usually comesoff in 1 pull..atleast most of it.its that thick foam tape that sucks, like dakine uses, thats a real pain if its stuck good. mygod that stuff wont give up no matter what. its worse than the board stickers that the manufacturer puts on. it took me 2 days to get that stuff off my grudge. and blisters!
goo gone! or any type of sticker shock will work great. fingernails. really up to you.its a pain to get off no matter what you use. sticker shock helps, but dont expect amiracle outta it. and a forwarning, this will happen with EVERY stomp pad that doesntnaturally fall off because of crappy tape, so be prepared to do this every time you changeit.but you're not looking at a big job no matter what.thinking back, my 1st foam stomp pad was a ride logo, and it just had double sidedbooger tape (very thin adhesive tape, like scotch, most stomps use a thick foam tape) and heat got MOST of that off. so you can try using a hair dryer and a dull knifeto pry it off in 1 strip if it is tape. if its glue, its more like a sticker and use the abovemethod.just do not goo gone the bottom of your board!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if you get some on the bottom getit off immediately.

Battle scars for frosty rider! #3094^- dude that sucks so hard! getting hit by cars suck. what was wrong with the driver? drinking or something? or was it an honest mistake? sucks you lost the girl due to a bad homecoming though. goodluck on your recovery!update on my season – i got shanked hardcore by a gate skiier that bombed a blue freestyle park run (wtf seriously why are you going to see how fast you can ride down a run that has rails, bonks, kickers, and wall rides). i got hit so hard it broke my already injured ankle and did something to my left knee cap (i cant extend my left leg all the way right now and this has been since saturday morning), and he completely destroyed a friend of mine who might have a broken nose and a mild concussion. The guy was ejected from the mountain (for his own safety, me and my friend were going to “repay the favor” but the ski patrol stopped us) and after^- dude that sucks so hard! getting hit by cars suck. what was wrong with the driver? drinking or something? or was it an honest mistake? sucks you lost the girl due to a bad homecoming though. goodluck on your recovery!update on my season – i got shanked hardcore by a gate skiier that bombed a blue freestyle park run (wtf seriously why are you going to see how fast you can ride down a run that has rails, bonks, kickers, and wall rides). i got hit so hard it broke my already injured ankle and did something to my left knee cap (i cant extend my left leg all the way right now and this has been since saturday morning), and he completely destroyed a friend of mine who might have a broken nose and a mild concussion. I'm out till end of january at the earliest, and i have a crack in my nice freestyle board and in my rail board (my buddy was riding it) :(goodluck to all of you, 09 is evidently NOT my season hahahah.that is such a horrible incident. im glad no one was killed.and im VERY glad it didnt happen on their new lift. the peak to peak one.if that thing falls, no one will survive, atleast i dont think. isnt it 400ft off the groundfor most of the journey?my wishes to all of the people and their familys who were inloved in this. get betterand get back riding soon!

253? do you mean 153? i dont know what unit of measure they're giving you, since snowboards are metric and you're in england and on metric anyways…lets say for simple sake that you meant 153, 156, and 158.there isnt going to be much difference. just make sure of the side cut. make sure it fits your bootwithout too much drag on either side. thats the most important part.as far as the length between the 3, unless you're…lets say 5'4, all 3 of those board are prettymuch in your range. the 158 is going to be the faster of the 3, and in my opinion more responsive(i know a bunch of sites say shorter boards turn easier, but i dont believe this, my 156 turns betterthan my 146) the 153 is the slower, and is easier to control, mostly because it wont flex as muchso when you turn your board is bending in the same weight on both sides, instead of a longer253? do you mean 153? i dont know what unit of measure they're giving you, since snowboards are metric and you're in england and on metric anyways…lets say for simple sake that you meant 153, 156, and 158.there isnt going to be much difference. just make sure of the side cut. make sure it fits your bootwithout too much drag on either side. thats the most important part.as far as the length between the 3, unless you're…lets say 5'4, all 3 of those board are prettymuch in your range. the 158 is going to be the faster of the 3, and in my opinion more responsive(i know a bunch of sites say shorter boards turn easier, but i dont believe this, my 156 turns betterthan my 146) the 153 is the slower, and is easier to control, mostly because it wont flex as muchso when you turn your board is bending in the same weight on both sides, instead of a longer onewhich the nose could carve out more on one side than the other, depending on conditions (sayyou hit an ice patch). and the 156 is kind of the compromise.and when i checked the currancy converter today, thats a super deal at aliltle more than $150 for everything.if you can go to a resort, try renting one of all 3. most resorts will let you swap out sizes as much as you want.and as you progress, you'll find different sizes work best for different things you want to do.(ie, the 153 has a lower swing rate, making it easier for spin tricks, while most people i know like longerboards for rails for the extended flex pattern).if this is your first board, you're in your target height if the waist is wide enough. 9/10 you'll trash your firstsnowboard to death learning everything. so find the one thats the easiest to ride NOW, and save up forwhen you hit intermediate and know what you like to hit most of all.hope that helps!i remember your delima with your goggles josh and now that im thinking about it, thatcloth might not be a good idea. since you have to use it on the inner lens. i have an oldpair lying around, if i can find one of these fog cloths ill give it a try. i dont think it'll hurtthem, but you never know, and my spy's have had it. they're officially done as of today.
ive changed my mind and im going for a level 3 frosty! im going riding wednesday and my aim is a backside 720 nosegrab, and then push hopefully for a backside 9 so wish me luck! if not, then id like to apply for a level 1 too :)ive got plenty of pain killers and alprazolam just in case things go wrong (all legal, i have scripts) so why not go for it eh?
i dont know if they work on script glasses or not, but back in the 60s and 70's they used to make these cloths that eliminate fogging. i havent seen one in years though (my buddies came in his 70's impala from the dealer) but god they work. you just run it over your windshield on the inside and it will not fog up for weeks. but the odd thing is, it doesnt have oil in it or anything. it looks and feels like a paper towel. i wonder if anyone makes anything like this for glasses. when i used to wear mine they'd fog over like a bastard all the time. i guess im just a naturally hot person ;)(sorry for the cheesy joke, im not hot btw)
