Welcome!  Nice looking board there.  If you have been snowboarding for 9 years, why so long until you finally buy a board.  You do not go very often? Looks like you are into gaming too!

Yes, “posting a new thread” = “creating a new topic” 🙂

I agree totally with travz//”seeing as your florida boy, you associate falling with extreme pain (thanks ice!).”Once you get into some powder snow, like 6+ inches or so, you will begin to feel like it is more like surfing.  You will be “pointing it” more, getting more of a floating sensation, and doing little to no speed checks (except on hardpacked busy trails or steeper groomers).I think as you become more experienced you will see that the difficulty and sensation of snowboarding changes so much with snow conditions. Also, have a shop tune the board.  They will one-on-one clue you in to how often it needs to be waxed / tuned.

If you skate or surf then you already know which side to put forward.  If you do not have any idea, then you are at an impass.  People try to help you decide.  I have taught thousands of people to snowboard and I honestly have never used a stance (regular vs goofy foot) determination routine that I trust.  Some say push somebody forward from behind. Some say step forward. Some say kick a ball. Some say …I say trust your gut.  Pick one and stick with it until you start moving around the mountain pretty good.  Then work on fakie_ for the sake of fun, balance and muscle symmetry.See also this thread on goofy vs regular.

Here is a mock up of what a review could be like. https://frostyrider.com/forum/other-reviews/

I agree with everything except the stoke/diss part.  Actually I do agree with your logic about responses, but I just don't think it is appropriate to use the forums' main respect level gauge for it.  Maybe there is some other way.  I got it, as mods, we can make sure all reviews have a Poll attached to them for agree/disagree.  How about that?

Nice idea Travz//I have been thinking of somehow working the FR reviews into the Forum and then in turn feeding that section into the Reviews section of the site.  This Snowboarding Video Reviews thing is a great idea/addition to the FR reviews.  Sometimes I want to buy a vid online that is a good price but have no idea if it is any good or not.I can toy with the new feeds/data-management stuff about it in the meantime.

And lets throw in an added bonus, if you get a video that a member recommendedand you liked it, stoke them! If you don't, diss them.

What do you mean by this?

So how about rules, 1 video per post, and no double posting. You should have towait until someone else posts a video recommendation to post another recommendation.

    sounds cool

I watched “Last Winter” ironically last winter,

If it is your first time, most resorts have “packages” for Ticket/Rental/Lesson and Ticket/Lesson.  Since you have all your own gear already, you would need the Ticket/Lesson package.  Yes, I highly recommend the lesson.  Most last a couple hours and can show you the ropes, get you more comfortable and confident, and save you hundreds of falls! If you have extra money bring it.  There are sometimes unexpected expenses that arrise.  Also be aware that you should have eye protection no matter what the weather conditions.  Goggles are the most appropriate and offer the best protection.  Dress in layers and get a locker at the lodge to keep stuff in.HAVE FUN!!

Great choice.  Anagram is a good board for someone starting out in freestyle progression.  The 152cm length will give you easy maneuverability especially for doing jumps.  A little short for freeride tho as it would get a little squirreley in the powder and rougher terrain.Personally I have loved every K2 board I have ever owned and also have broken them all; and I am not really hard on boards compared to some people, so that's my opinion for ya.  Very light and very lively for the first season.  After that they wither but are fun right up until they break, haha.  But for under $300 for a brand new ride I think it is worth it for sure.  Good choice.

Wet head is a bummer.  My helmet has really open vents so in high moisture events like melting snow, rain, or sweat occurs it gets wet right where the vents are.  Then if it gets colder and freezes, I take off the helmet later in the day and I have a pattern of freezie pops on my head that are all icy! Have you tried different types of beanies?  Some beanies have different materials, thicknesses, and weaves that will allow more or less breathability and moisture wiking properties. As for helmets, I got the new Giro Nine and the venting in it is really cool (no, literally).  Different helmet brands like Leedom, Red, and Boeri are going to breathe in completely different ways.  Might be a good idea while in the shop to tromp around a while with it on and see how your noggin feels.

look at frosty pimpin the forums! welcome to the dark side 😉

Wow, that's tough love there.  Just what I need  :?Well, I don't ride lunch trays so I really can't give any more than suggesting the Recon.  It is a nice midwide jibber stick.  Being 6 ft I wouldn't suggest going under 148cm length.Good luck!
