Cool!! So………..how did it go??????????? 😀
Lake Tahoe just got a foot of snow this week, so a few resorts are actually gonna open tomorrow! I'm so juiced!!!I'll be going on Veteran's Day, gotta go wax my snowboard! YEAH!! 😛
let us know how it goes tuesday…I'm jealous 🙂 Jay opens the 22nd, just 2 more weeks…
another idea, if you live where there is natural snow and have access to a slope you can set things up to practice on. when i got home from work last nite (we got like 8 inches of snow) my son had made some jumps on the front lawn, which is slighly sloped, moved the picnic table down there, and was making some sort of a rail out of a tree all for me to “practice” on. hah.
October 23, 2008 at 9:22 pm in reply to: Burton Snowboard Jacket Designers – What Were They Thinking? #2939An important thing to remember before you buy any of these- when you toss back one drink too many at the lodge the night before do you really want to look at this all the next day while trying to ride? Speaking of burton things that make you say hmmm, has anyone seen their “primo” line of snowboards? nasty, nasty, nasty
My husband took a look at this last night and was able to fix it, he ended up needing to use a different screw. Should have just asked him to do this for me to begin with, damn I hate when that happens 😳
Thanks guys for the advice. Before I return anything i guess I'm going to have the guys at the shop take a look at it, I'm bringing my other board there next week to be tuned so will ask them about this also. To look at the binding the holes really seem to line up but the screw will only go in off to the side, and not very far. will let you know what the probelm ended up being.
Pass a written test? mmmmmmmm, that sounds scary. True false questions, or multiple choiced? what if I fail? Are there trick questions? I havent taken an exam in like, years…heehee
Regarding your question- we didn't have too much trouble finding a good fit, actually. Tried several sizes of this helmet at a chain store (dicks sporting goods, I think), after finding the right size I ended up ordering one off the internet as the store didnt have many styles in stock. We have gotten a new replacement about every 2-3 seasons. The first season he used resort rental helmets, although I am unsure of them- its hard to tell how old they are or if they've ever been on someone who smacked their head and didn't get replaced as they should have.
He was around 8 when he started riding, we live very close to a resort and our school partners with them- about every 2 weeks throughout the winter the kids that participate take the day off to ski and ride. (so at 13 he already has 5 solid years of riding under his belt) A requirement of the program is that helmets are mandatory. When buying my only requirement was that it was from a reputable company, we ended up getting a giro “bad lieutenant” digicamo helmet. It is very cool looking, which helps in him wanting to wear it. Same with me, this is very superficial but I don't want one that makes me look like a “bobblehead” haha 8)
What you've noticed about people buying as they progress is true for me. I now always wear a helmet but initially did not invest in one. The main reason I started wearing a helmet is that I insist that my son wears one, when I got good enough to keep up with him he was like “well why should i wear a helmet if you arent going to…” so I got a helmet. The extra confidence I got once I started wearing it helped me step up my riding more than I ever imagined. Its annoying to me that most pro riders dont wear helmets in movies, photoshoots, etc IMO this is portraying an image that its not cool to wear a helmet.
Has anyone gone anywhere or done anything interesting so far this summer? All its done here in Vermont is rain rain rain 🙁
Hey I got my new board today 😀 It IS gorgeous, cant wait to try it out! The wavy edge is more subtle than I thought it would be, you have to look really close to notice it. Even my husband, who has no interest in snowboarding whatsoever (despite my futile attemps to get him interested, he's a skiier) was admiring it!!
travz thanks for the heads up on ebay, I actually hunted around some more last night and found one on a site called http://www.shorelineoftahoe.com. With shipping included it ended up being cheaper at this site, so I ordered one there (yay!). If you guys have never been to this site before its pretty sweet, they have some good deals there, I saw libtech boards also…
So, after reading Frosty's post I realize I have no clue whatsoever what I really want out of a snowboard. I have only owned like one snowboard besides riding resort rentals which I dont really count…. i like my burton feelgood but have nothing to compare it to as far as experiences with other snowboards. Im still going to order the roxy envi because i want to try MTX, but in trying to be cheap have waited too long for prices of last years stuff to drop and cant find any left that are 152 length. Hopefully they make this board in 09 🙂
Oh yeah, thats just lovely (rolling eyes)
