Many VT resorts opened the weekend of the 16th.  We're going for the first time this season tomorrow, hopefully we'll have some pics to post!

Our local resort has gone disney-  they went from a rural family winter resort to a four season mega resort complete with indoor waterpark and championship golf course.  For us local riders, things have gotten pricey there so we haven't gotten season passes for the past two years.  What we do now–Another local resort has a night ski/ride deal every Saturday night from 4-8.  18$ each, they show snowboard movies and have beer and flatbread deals also.  We try to go there every Saturday-Our local library has a deal through a resort, you sign up in advance through the library and they offer 30$  day passes.  This is usually offered every other Sunday throughout the season.-Our local Mobil gas stations run a deal where after 3 fillups you get a coupon for a buy one/ get one free ticket at several VT resorts.  We use this often as well.-Our last option is to volu

Hello Everyone as well!  This is Rowan, sorry I have neglected this site a bit in the past few months, it has been very busy for me here in VT.  I absolutely can't wait for winter to come and to get back on my board!  Snowboarding is such a wonderful stress relieving physical activity for me, I so hope this coming winter is better than our last one and I can get a ton of days on my board.Later Everyone!

I wonder if switching back and forth between regular and goofy so soon could be messing things up also?  Maybe if you stuck to either one or the other for a while and really concentrated on learning that one side first might help?  Frosty what do you think??

No snow here either in VT, its raining and almost 50 today,  although my home resort now has a new massive indoor waterpark to play in.  Still on the fence with how I feel about this,  I prefer less of a disneyland feeling.      I'm going to go try these virtual runs now 🙂

And now a happy ending!  This is not the norm for stolen boards, we were very very lucky….my son was riding today and spotted his stolen board being ridden, after getting security involved the theifs admitted stealing the board, along with 3 others.  Not very smart of them to ride the boards at the same resort they stole them from, but lucky for us.  I am still out the 450$ I spent to replace his board and bindings but hope to recover that from the parents, we'll see!

Ride bindings are my favorite as well.  About your wrist, if you are nervous about hurting it again there are lots of options for gloves/mittens with wrist guards built in.  Wrist injuries are quite common when learning to snowboard.  Good luck to you!    😛

A sad update to the very post that I started-my son got his new Rome Pusher stolen today. Another guy got his board stolen as well.  Lesson learned the hard way.  We're getting board locks tomorrow…the resort offered to replace his board at dealer cost, which was nice of them.  Lock your boards everybody!

We spent the summer sailing, or, trying to sail.  We bought a 24' sailboat and spent a lot of fun learning to sail, and spending nights camping on the boat on Lake Champlain.  Now…we're waiting for snow.  It has been super warm here, our home resort is supposed to open next week-we'll see.  It was 60 degrees out yesterday and we mowed the lawn.  Has anyone been riding yet this year?

We have a “winter storm warning” for the next two days…our local resort is forcasting 12-18 inches of new snow by Wednesday evening…guess we're not putting up the snowboards just yet, mwahahahah!

My season was OK, the conditions were the worst I've seen in a long time, but I didn't get hurt or anything so I'm pretty happy.  I did a rainbow rail for the first time so that was cool.

That's great!  My season is OK though I am not getting as much on snow time as I like.  El Nino is been cruel to the west — although that is no real excuse!  One of my goals was to ride goofy as well as regular and I am almost there!  Practice, practice, practice…

So…I got 2nd place 🙂  There were only 3 girls that competed, but for being my first time doing this I'm pretty happy.  I ended up getting a nice Helly Hanson dry ride base layer shirt for placing, so I'm pretty happy with that!  I definitely would do it again 8)  I'll post some pics in the gallery once I get them…

A day each at at Smuggs, Stowe and Jay would be really fun, as even though they are all within an hour drive of each other they all have their own unique fun environments… and the Stowe area is absolutely gorgeous.  🙂
