Hey Guys. I am currently looking to get my first setup. I have previously ridden rental boards and have had trouble with some in the past. I already have my own boots and now would like to get a board and bindings.I will most likely try and demo boards before i commit to one. Here are a few details about me.Height: 5'11Weight: 203lbsBoot size: 13 (US)Age: 17Experience: 4 yearsStyle of riding: All mountain, mostly riding pistes and looking to do some park.Home Mtn: Mostly riding in the AlpsI look forward to your suggestions.
August 21, 2011 at 2:24 pm #3749Just been and spoken to the guys at Subvert Boardstore. They recommended some boards and I would like your opinions. The three boards were:-K2 World Wide Weapon http://k2snowboarding.com/snowboards/www-wide#ReviewHeader (They recommended this board at around 155cm)-Ride Kink http://ridesnowboards.com/snowboards/kink-Burton Blunt http://global.burton.com/mens-boards-blunt-snowboard/252213,default,pd.html?start=7&cgid=mens-boardsAll of the boards were wide versions. In terms of bindings they recommended the Burton Cartels.Any opinions would be appreciated.
August 22, 2011 at 12:54 am #3750Well, there are a good variety of boards out there, but from looking at your specs (which was really cool of you to lay out like that) I have come up with three suggestions of my own for you.- Ride Manic Wide Snowboard 160- Rome Crail Wide Snowboard 158- Rossignol Taipan Amptek Midwide Snowboard 158As for the bindings, the Burton Cartels are always a good choice. Great proven performance and reliability.Remember though, of you choose a non-Burton board, get the Cartels with the 4-hole pattern, not the 3-hole or channel. 😎
August 22, 2011 at 2:10 pm #3751Thanks for the reply Frosty.I really like the look of your suggestions, especially the Taipan. 😎 I will have to see if there is somewhere I can demo them nearby. Also, have you had any experiences with the K2 World Wide Weapon? I really like the look of this board and want to know if anyone has tried it?
September 3, 2011 at 4:25 pm #3753K2 World Wide Weapon seems like a good jib board. I haven't tried it yet. Yeah, the Taipan is a nice board!
September 4, 2011 at 7:39 pm #3754Went to a shop at an indoor snow slope and got my setup. Unfortunately I didn't get to try any of the boards mentioned in this thread. 🙁 However, i am now the proud owner of a 10/11 Bataleon Goliath snowboard, and 11/12 Burton Custom Bindings. 😎
September 5, 2011 at 4:15 pm #3755Nice! Thanks for checking back in with us. Can't wait to see how you like it out on the mountain. 😎
February 29, 2012 at 9:49 pm #3857Just got back from a week in Val Thorens, France with my new board. The Goliath is one hell of a board! Very stable at speed. The triple base prevented much of the edge catch on the cut up runs. Definitely stoked on triple base now. 😀
February 29, 2012 at 10:32 pm #3858Glad you like that Bataleon Goliath board. I am going to have to check out the triple base TBT thing some more. Seems really forgiving.Val Thorens, France? No way!I have always wanted to go there! I bet it was awesome. Did you get any pics?
February 29, 2012 at 10:46 pm #3859TBT is definitely worth checking out.Val Thorens is awesome! I have some pics on the camera. I will get them up when I can 🙂
