hahahah i thought dial up was extinct! gone the wayof the home phone 😉
and i've become such a board hog. i think ive posted multiple times in every topic 🙁
the only song i like is the goldfinger one. thats kinda a snowboard song.the rest are horrible. 70's disco and pop music. geez.i mean c'mon, snowboarders, minus shaun white, listen to hiphop and undergroundhardcore/punk stuff.glad im not the only person that thinks this was a let down. it had so muchpotential. they should let travis rice make the game. or terje. peter linesand shawn palmers were decent for their day!
i forgot to put this in my last post but if you do a package, try to get one without boots.i dont think this has really been stressed on this site enough, but you really reallyneed comfy boots that fit correctly. not to say you need $400 dc boots, but try a bunchof different brands and find one that fits, works, and matches. my 1st set up hadterrible boots and i had to take brakes often because the arches of my feet hurt, and they were bottom priced dc's (trying to say dont buy into a brand just for the name..which is funny for me running almost all forum).i rented some rossignols or however its spelled from a resort last season that werereally comfortable, but i couldnt find them on the market. you spent alot more timein the boots than you do on the board so it just makes sense to invest more in thisdepartment.and being you're a newbie (no offense, welcome to the bei forgot to put this in my last post but if you do a package, try to get one without boots.i dont think this has really been stressed on this site enough, but you really reallyneed comfy boots that fit correctly. not to say you need $400 dc boots, but try a bunchof different brands and find one that fits, works, and matches. my 1st set up hadterrible boots and i had to take brakes often because the arches of my feet hurt, and they were bottom priced dc's (trying to say dont buy into a brand just for the name..which is funny for me running almost all forum).i rented some rossignols or however its spelled from a resort last season that werereally comfortable, but i couldnt find them on the market. you spent alot more timein the boots than you do on the board so it just makes sense to invest more in thisdepartment.and being you're a newbie (no offense, welcome to the best sport on earth!) you dontneed to buy into the hype of having some ultra killer top end board. being its yourfirst, you're going to trash it…quick. my very 1st snowboard i put a 2mm gash tip to tailand almost ruined it, 1st day on the mountain. so keep that in mind too.so try to find something easy to ride to learn on, kinda flexable, (i'd stay away from anythingover 5 on the flex meter) and nothing with a sintred base. (very expensive to fix gashesif you run over something like a rock or a stick).about the time you wear your 1st board out (2 – 3 seasons, they usually last longer butyou're learning and you should really ride the crap outta it) you'll know what you likeand what you want and can shop for a high end after that.board recommendations vary due to brands, snowboards are like girls purses, people getdefensive if you dont like what they're riding…and everyone is always riding the best, sopick one YOU like as far as that. there arnt very many brands that are bad, and the onesthat actually are horrible snowboard manufacturers are hard to find. height and weight you're pretty close to me, so i can tell you what i ride and you can go fromthere. for riding rails/jibbing/street i ride a 146. thats street hand rails, no park stuff, no resortstuff. the shortness keeps me slow so i can stay in control riding in the city.park for jumps, spines, kickers, bonks, etc i ride a 154 with a flex 6 for extra pop on the ollieand a 3mm setback (none of this you'll have to worry about right now)and rails at the resort, like banana rails, boxes, etc, i ride a 156 with a flex 2 that keeps therebound down when i hop on a rail.thats just personal pref for me, all i can tell you is how i ride. frosty has more information aboutoverall riding than i do, so any advice he can give you is definatly worth listening to.The_House is a great place. http://www.proboardshop.com is their sister site. they're from the exact same place, but for some reason they sell different things sometimes. same price though. and their customer serviceis 2nd to none. they always take care of me when i call.the size calculator is pretty accurate. i wouldnt ride anything further than 1 size up or down from therecommendation. (as you know it gives you a group of sizes)as far as packages, it really doesnt matter. sometimes they're great and sometimes frankenstein boardswork best. it all depends on you and what you like.
thanks josh!she'll be riding the girl version of my old manual. those things were wet noodles and most ofthe concern is snapping it than riding ability. i had a 146 manual which was a flex 2, so sameboard and i knocked up to a 156 and its alot better to me. that makes things about right, she'llbe the same weight/board ratio that i am now and i love my 156 manual.
sweet. my best friend has a wii and the balance board and i wanna try that!
bah he ruined the x-games now he's ruining snowboarding video games!haha ok that might be pushing it a bit.but i did honestly expect there to be a 1080 button instead of a series of commandsyou had to hit to land it.if the xbox 360 version is what the commercials makes it out to be then it should be fun!the version i have isnt bad, its just not what it said it was going to be. though i did justland 13 japan air's in 1 jump 😉
i was just about to make a topic about this!RENT IT!i bought it for the ps2 and everything the commercial said it was is a BOLD FACE LIE.atleast for the playstation 2 version. so i dont know if i trust the other versions or not.im really angry about this. i wanted to get the game because of all the extra stuff likebeing able to ride all different brands of boards and parks and snowball fights.the ps2 version doesnt even have burton boards, or atleast it doesnt look like it.im basically playing espn's pro boarder as a re release 🙁 but atleast with that gameyou could play as terje!i dont even like shaun white, now i feel like he's lied to me 🙁
no probs thats what we're here for! welcome to the site andpost some pics of your board when you get it! 🙂
go with the 146 then. 🙂 itll be less stressful on your boardwhen you have to stomp down on a box or something.
it really varies on your riding style. i know this has been kind of an evolving answer that im giving you, but bare with me and we'llget it right. :)being in the middle is a great place to start. you said you're anintermediate rider, so you should know by now what kind ofresponse you're looking for out of your board.lets do it like this, what interests you the most? jumps or rails?
i find turning on really flexable boards easier than the stiffer ones.especially for learning. and they're great for street because mostreally soft boards are really cheap because the manufacturers knowthey're going to be ridden to death and destroyed. to me they dont seem to have the same amount of pop for ollies, butthat may just be me from riding a 6/7 and a 2.
you're not really going to notice anything between the 144 and 146. i can only give you personalpreference to this because the length isnt really anything major. for me, if im going to ride railsi like a longer board which would put you at the 146. but if you like hitting gaps and spin tricks, the 144 has a lower swing weight.but again, the difference is so minimal you wont notice. its a flex 2 so be prepared for that.so honestly, go for graphic. between the 2 which has the better graphic and go with it.oh and good choice going with forum! their boards can take some serious abuse. i have 3 forumboards right now 🙂
Bummer but you got to hand it to them for trying so early in the season. It will NEVER happen if you NEVER AT LEAST TRY!
Tell me about it! Last year it was really really warm and they did it. I want to say it was mid 70's,but they got away with it because it was only 25 the night before. Its never ALOT of snow, justenough for a run up and a landing. From what I've heard they still had the show, just didntdo the jam, or atleast i cant find any video of it. So maybe next year. But they'll have an openingseason rail jam and big air contest a week after they open so thats something to look forwardto!
