I used to live in Colorado and the combination of reliable snow, terrain, and selection of mountains is really hard to beat. Yeah, I know they get a lot of money for their day passes there, that's why I worked at the mountain most of the time (for the free pass as a perk). For the times I didn't I got the Summit Pass (A.K.A. Buddy Pass). It used to be like half the price. Now it is $459. But still a good buy if you are going more than 5 or 6 times that season. Now if you are going to only be there for a weekend or something, here is a little secret. You can get discounted lift passes from Safeway or King Soopers grocery stores.I found this on the internet, may help if you plan on staying in the Denver area.Looking for a King Soopers near you? 1331 North Speer Blvd Denver, CO 80204 303-571-5566 1155 East Ninth Avenue Denver, CI used to live in Colorado and the combination of reliable snow, terrain, and selection of mountains is really hard to beat. Welcome to the forums. The_House is an awesome place to get boards and all the gear. I highly recommend them.As for recommending a board for you, first try out the snowboard size calculator here and see the recommended boards it gives you. See what interests you there then post here and we can give you opinions from there. OK?
I know I know. I am working on it. I am really running behind and this WILL happen soon — promise.
Didnt go well because when we woke up we found it out was raining there. …
Bummer but you got to hand it to them for trying so early in the season. It will NEVER happen if you NEVER AT LEAST TRY!
you lucky dawg! a resort in north carolina opened today!!! i mean c'mon if they can ride you guys should be able to get enough snow to ride.
Wow, which NC resort opened already?
Wow, that is so early! Good for Tahoe. Mt Bachelor got 22 inches mid mtn depth but they are going to wait a while for opening. Hoodoo has 12 inches and projected to open Nov 28th. Not too long, yay!
Welcome to the Frosty Rider forums! You really need to get the board turning both ways. That way you can get into carving — especially in greens and blues. We can definitely help you get going on to your toeside. Can you go into some detail as to what happens when you try? Any more info will help us get the idea.
I really like switch 540's. whenever I stick one it makes me really happy. The other trick I like is a big backside 180 indy. These can be dangerous tho since timing needs to be just right. I usually do them regular and have a hard time with switch. This season I am going to find a nice hip jump and try some backside 270 with tailgrab. I think it will have the same sensation of landing a backside 180 but with an added twist.
Yeah, letz get this thing rolling! OK Travz, you are the first team member applicant. Which level are you trying out for?
I say always opt for a nice base layer like hot chilies. Other than that it depends on the conditions and the person. Take a duffel full of gear to the mountain and stand outside in teh parking lot for a while and decide then Just a suggestion.
This may sound weird, but at Mt Bachelor they have a “Kiddie Park” (KP) where there is a variety of rails, boxes and jumps — all small. I don't know if other areas have a KP, but ir REALLY is a great place to learn and get the feel for things.
Not necessary. They are really personal preference all the way around — pro and amateur alike. From what I see, most riders use stomp pads and there are sp many different kinds you are bound to find some pattern that fits with your style.
… I think you should email the test or maybe post it on the site as a download like in pdf or somethin. And then you should have people print it out, take the test, and mail it back to you (real mail). That would keep it legit. imo …
Good idea. I don't see any problem with doing it that way.
Pass a written test? mmmmmmmm, that sounds scary. True false questions, or multiple choiced? what if I fail? Are there trick questions?nbsp; I havent taken an exam in like, years…heehee
LOL… Well it does kinda sound spooky, yes, but it would mainly be stuff from the skier responsibility code.
The main point would be to make sure that those who sport our stuff are aware of the basic mountain safety and etiquette.
Cool Frosty!I have to admit I don't have a lot of experience, but I'm always on the slopes and I willing to promote your site. Hopefully as I get better I'll help out more. I have one question, when you say “inside the industry” what do you mean by that?
I guess I was trying to sound too cool there. Just mean on the business end of things a little but. Thanks will keep you updated. Any other ideas?
