December 23, 2009 at 3:07 am #404Hello Frosty!!! I'm must say I'm pretty much a beginner. So far i've been only on the board for 3 times and i must say i'm hooked. I want to buy my own board this boxing day… I've checked my size on the sizing calculator and I fall on the range of 133-134-135. I use 133 on rentals when i was taking lessons. I stand 4'10, weight 100lbs and my shoe size is 4, age 32. I'm currently thinking of getting burton woman's board and most of their sizing has 140 or 141 as the shortest for the women's board, do you think it make any difference in my ability to stay on the board. I'm more concern with me being able to control the board more than speed. My cousin has been trying to convince me not to get a small board and get a woman's board, which really bothers me as my range falls on the small board. Please enlighten me onHello Frosty!!! And also could you please help choose between a directional board versus a twin. I would only be using the board going down hills and not on rails or ramps as i'm only really beginning to learn. Thanks again 😀December 23, 2009 at 4:47 am #3554Thanks for the question. This is one of the best this year! You really do have a special situation and I am glad you got on here and asked about it because getting the right board is CRUCIAL for someone of your size (petite and sweet). You can find a woman's board in your recommended length all right, but they are all going to be too wide to suit your smaller boot size, and at only 100 pounds and being smaller you will not have the mass to power a relatively wide board up on edge — especially on hardpack snow.I say definitely go with the GIRLS board. (sorry couz) It will give you the optimal waist width for best control in the widest variety of snow conditions, reduce fatigue, be lighter and more flexible, and as a bonus they are price-pointed much lower! :grin:You state wisely, “I'm more concern with me being able to control the boarThanks for the question. Waist width size is more important than overall board length. After digging around a bit I was able to find a snowboard that I recommend above all others based on it's size and brand reputation.K2 Kandi Girl's Snowboard 134 – Youth (22.6 waist)http://www.the-house.com/9834k2kay9zz-k2-snowboards.html

December 23, 2009 at 5:06 am #3555Thanks frosty!!! Now, i just need to think of how to break it gently to my cousin as he is so convinced that i should get the women's board and not the kiddie board as he is more concerned that i would not be having trouble staying afloat powder with a longer board. I see his point in that but also he should consider that a longer board would make me work hard since it would also be heavy for me and hard to control.Anyhow, I'm now choosing between a burton lux at 136 and a burton feather at 140 with both waist of 23.8. I'm also considering the burton feelgood, they have a 134 and a 137. Just in consideration my teacher (my cousin). What do you think?
