Sorry if I’m duplicating an earlier post about magne traction boards, I remember seeing another post where these were mentioned but can’t find it now… Anyway, I’m looking for an additional board for next year and am considering a Roxy board which has a magne traction edge, was wondering if anyone has had any experience with magne traction boards and if they like them, also was wondering if it is hard to go from a regular board to one of these with the “wavy” edges. I haven’t been able to find a ton of reviews for magne traction boards so If anyone has had any experience with them or has heard anything as far as pros and cons I would appreciate the info. Thanks.
June 9, 2008 at 5:22 pm #2851my girlfriend has the envi and she loves it.if you look up reviews, you can check out the ones for theskate banana, it has the magna traction as well and has tonesof reviews. the only thing is that alot of people that ride lib techput them into the “god of snowboards” section, when its really not.i ride a regular board which im really comfortable on, and ive riddenmy girls roxy a few times and the only thing i can say is its moreresponsive on easy turns than a regular snowboard. it makes thelow speed easy turns almost like a skateboard instead of a slowsliding turn of a snowboard.if you get the envi, the magna traction pretty much has no cons.its different, but not different enough where it'd take a day ormore to get used to it. maybe a few light runs. as far as consfor the overall board, its a well built one. but as with any snowboard, theres going to be SOmy girlfriend has the envi and she loves it.if you look up reviews, you can check out the ones for theskate banana, it has the magna traction as well and has tonesof reviews. the only thing is that alot of people that ride lib techput them into the “god of snowboards” section, when its really not.i ride a regular board which im really comfortable on, and ive riddenmy girls roxy a few times and the only thing i can say is its moreresponsive on easy turns than a regular snowboard. it makes thelow speed easy turns almost like a skateboard instead of a slowsliding turn of a snowboard.if you get the envi, the magna traction pretty much has no cons.its different, but not different enough where it'd take a day ormore to get used to it. maybe a few light runs. as far as consfor the overall board, its a well built one. but as with any snowboard, theres going to be SOMETHING you dont like about it.my only con, its light and poppy and feels like a rail killer, but has asintred base which is hard to repair so it almost makes rails a no no.hope this helps. 🙂June 10, 2008 at 2:14 am #2853Hey, thanks for the info….I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with the Envi. I've read that they handle pretty well on icy spots too, do you (or does she) feel this is true???Ummm, can I also ask what her set up is as far as boots and bindings? I have burton boots now and there ok but I dont LOVE them, so i think i'm going to take the opportunity to try something different to go with this board. Thanks…
June 11, 2008 at 4:25 am #2855we live out here on the ice coast, so thats all we know :Dand she does fine. i dont know if its the board or if its the factthat she learned on hardpack/ice…sorry.she had k2 charm bindings for the past season and thought it was ok,but she really liked my ride ex bindings when she rode them on her board,so next year shes going with the ride girls LXh and forums melody boots.she rode rossi boots before from the rental shop. hasnt gotten a chanceto try the new ones out.
June 11, 2008 at 9:09 pm #2856K, thanks…I know what you mean about east coast icy crap, I'm lucky that where I live/ride in northern vermont its cold enough and far enough up north that we miss almost all of the rain/ice junk that falls south of here. If you guys head up this way next season give me a shout 🙂
June 12, 2008 at 12:39 am #2857my best friends brother goes to college in vermont! not sure where butwe're going up there next winter for some riding! do you guys have a street scene?
June 12, 2008 at 2:53 am #2858not really any street scene where I go, but check this out, Mount Snow VT's new set up for next season– 95 acre terrain park, five miles of 125 different features and areas, devoted to freestyle and freestyle only…. looks sooooo cool…..http://www.mountsnow.com/parksandpipes.html
June 12, 2008 at 4:09 pm #2859my god the lift tickets are expensive! the park looks amazing but if i lived up there i wouldbe broke in a few days haha. but thats really somewhere i want to try. 2 half pipes! sweet :Ddid you have a pipe last year?and whats with the crazy hours? 9am – 4pm? thats kinda sad :shock:ours is 8am – 4am and our $40 lift ticket lets you ride the whole time.
June 12, 2008 at 10:15 pm #2860yeah its definitely pricey, you'll find that with most of the bigger resorts in the state, especially central and southern VT. Where I ride its not as expensive, http://www.jaypeakresort.com (click on winter) and they have packages and specials throughout the season. They didn't have a pipe last year but they have in past years. They have some park stuff in 2 or 3 small parks but not a ton of it. Really what they are known for is their natural terrain (glades!) and abundant snowfall…The hours there are about the same also, they open at 8:30 on weekends and lifts stop at 4. If you want to ride at night Bolton Valley is a good place to go, i dont know their web address offhand…
