I started out in the state of Washington at Stephen's Pass, Whistler Backcomb, and a variety of other off the trail hills. Through that time I have gone through a large number of boards, generally 2-3 per season, in an attempt to find the perfect board for each riding style.I generally run each season with three active boards and two passive boards. This means that I have three boards always ready to go and I have another two that I have sitting just in case, I need to do a swap out. I know this sounds ridiculous to anyone that does any boarding, but it's practical in my mind for a few reasons:1. I have a different board for each type of riding that I do, which is why I have three boards. I have one board for each style, one for big air, one for trick/style, and one for all mountain. I don't really have a speed board, but that's because I just can't get the feel for the larger boards.2. Another reason that I have multiple boards setup at all times and two passive boards, is because I change up my stance from standard to goofy depending upon how I feel that day. For example if I went huge the day before and my lead leg is feeling a little bit tender, which it often is, then I will swap leads. A lot of people can't do this all that easily, but I've been doing it for so long, that this has become normal practice.I generally go boarding five days a week during the season, sometimes upwards of seven in the beginning and at the very end of the season. I generally ride away from slopes, because I don't particularly like the predictability of the slopes. I want something that I have to react to at a moment's notice, it truly makes the ride, and keeps you from becoming complacent.BURTON Shaun White Snowboard BootsYou would have to be living under a rock or hiding out in a cave to not know who Shaun White is. By far he is the biggest thing in snowboarding inventing more new tricks and new gear than any other snowboarder in the history of the sport. He has definitely made a huge impact on not only what we do when we ride but how comfortably we ride. So it wasn't a surprise that he gained sponsorship from Burton with the Shaun White line of products. While I typically try to avoid products that are named after the sponsored boarder, the Shaun White boots were ones that I more or less accidentally picked up. I had absolutely no idea that I was buying a product that was intended for Shaun White and honestly it wouldn't have really mattered. I simply go around and test out the best possible boots to meet my overall needs and comfort. After about an hour of trying on boots and jumping around in them I landed on the the Shaun White black boots and couldn't take them off. The overall feel of the boot is incredible. They are made to feel much more like shoes than snowboard boots. They have incredible comfort, fit like a glove, and have the necessary padding to make the impact considerably more comfortable than it would typically be. The best thing about it is that it has A LOT more flex than most snowboard boots. This makes it a whole lot easier to climb up the mountain without your board and also walk around. More important, the additional flex makes it easier to move the board around. DURABILITYThe boot itself has been on my feet for numerous hours of the day for the last year. The boot itself fits snug so I was initially concerned that the interior padding would be quickly worn out as this is typically what happens to other boots. So far the boots have the appearance of being virtually brand new. As for the exterior of the boot even this area appears new. Even with numerous bad landings, lots of toe dragging, and more crashes than I care to admit the boots appear to be nearly new and I don't see any signs of them breaking down. Even the overall comfort and flex of the boot is for the most part in tact. I can tell that they are far more broken in than they were when they were first purchased but overall they are holding strong.
