November 30, 2008 at 6:25 am #238ok so i go to the store and they have this nice deal were i get these 60$ smith goggles for 30. So i buy them but when i get home i realize theres some fingerprints on em (ummmm). So im like w.e so i wipe em of wit some water and a microfiber cloth and i do the insides. However, once i am done i loook at the inside lens and its totally messed up and idk why. Like big siaed scratches. I took the tag off and looked at the instructions only to find thatur not supposed to put water on the inside cuz it makes it ez to scratch. However, i was using a clean microfiber cloth which did zero damageto the outside of the lens. So basically has anyone had experience with something like this? Im gonna take it back hopefully cuz the scratches are very significant and anoying. . But basically do u think its my fault? Are the inside lenses really that sensitive? ThxiaNovember 30, 2008 at 6:19 pm #3020Dude. This is a real bummer. To answer your questions in a nutshell… Yes, the inside lenses of goggles are very sensitive due to the soft anit-fog coating that exists there. Is it your fault? Well, you did do it, but you might want to see if the shop will be cool about it and exchange them out for you. If they do, then that is very cool of them, but I would not expect them to.Guys, try to never touch the inside of the goggles. Do not get water or moisture in there at all. If you have to wipe the inside for some reason, do it very very gently with a clean microfiber cloth. Never use cotton inside or outside. Once you begin wiping the inside of the goggles, they are basically never going to be the same. If you can still see with them and they are only slightly smudged, then they become your SPARE pair of goggles. Also, buy goggles that have replacemeDude. This is a real bummer. uuuggghhhh. That suckss. O welll ill try to return it tho……But its super weird cuz when i got them they did have finger prints on the outside and I wiped it off and it was perfect but then I looked from the inside and there were finger printsso thats when i did the inside. Someone definately touched the inside b4 me. Idk tho its weird cuz its so scratched up cuz like i hav an old uber cheap pair of smiths and they arent near as bad to look through (finer scratches lol) and in the past ive wiped those inside with hard bathroom paper towel and stuff so idk. Maybe they dont hav the coating or s.t. Wish me luck returning them. Too bad the lenses prolly arent replaceable 🙁 . I got sold on that deal.
December 5, 2008 at 7:31 pm #3035dunno if this helps but dogfunk.com is selling electric goggles with a free replacement lens right now.they're a bit pricey at $85, but i just got a pair and i love em. 😀 replacement lens cost $20 from them.

Ya i prolly shoulda bought a pair with replaceable lenses – i didnt thinka a that 🙁 The thing is the deal just looked so good at the time cuz its wa great price on somethin that is hopefully a lot better than my originals. O well. Thanks frostyedit: now that i think about it not really cuz i could buy like three of my goggles b4 it adds up to an expensive goggle lol. And replacement lenses=the entire goggle i got (discount) lol.
