Maybe we can even include a “how to”.My all time favorite trick:Off of a decent size kicker, a switch backside 180 method or mute. They're not hard, except the method, whichjust really takes time to learn, not difficult. I like lien grabs as a variation as well, but mostly frontside (looks cleaner). Why do I like this trick the best? I think they're just ultra tight, especially if you're good at them and can hold emout for long periods of time.Trick tip – You really dont have to do this switch, I just like to add it for props. If you do want to try this switch but arnta strong switch rider, you can always toe tap over to switch position right before you line up. Its one of those tricks that if you commit, you'll probablyland it. Backsides are no different. You're blind for the take off, but remember, you'll be back around way before thelanding so dont be scared. Then, when you get that down, start tweaking it. Sometimes i'll drag my back hand onthe takeoff and do the whole trick horizontal to the ground. you just have to remember to correct for the laid backposition. Don't be afraid to jetski if you take this route. I usually land almost all tail and use my hand against the snowto balance myself back out.The grab is really basic. Mute, just reach down inbetween your bindings. Very simple. Technically I think mutes arestrictly backside spin grabs, I havent seen many frontside mutes. but technically, you can do it.Methods are a bit trickier, as you do need air time to pull this off. you can do method taps on small jumps, just dontexpect to hold it. Come up to the jump ready to throw 180, once the board leaves the ramp start pulling the board upback behind you, reach behind you with your front hand and grab the board on the heelside edge between thebindings. Start small and just work on getting the grab and releasing, and when you get better, try pulling it furtherand further. you can even try shifting the board to give it your own little signature points.I'm excited for the season, as you all can probably tell haha.hope to hear more of you guys fav tricks!October 30, 2008 at 8:20 pm #2956
I really like switch 540's. whenever I stick one it makes me really happy. The other trick I like is a big backside 180 indy. These can be dangerous tho since timing needs to be just right. I usually do them regular and have a hard time with switch. This season I am going to find a nice hip jump and try some backside 270 with tailgrab. I think it will have the same sensation of landing a backside 180 but with an added twist.
October 31, 2008 at 6:13 am #2958Stoke for the b/s 180 indy!see i wish we had hips at my resort. i saw a frontside 270 tail i think on youtube (ive seena bunch of tricks, it gets confusing haha) and it looked really clean. I think thats why i likethe small spin tricks, you can get so much out of them.
