I love the BOA lacing system and these Ride Insano boots look nice. Anyone got these? (They look a lot like the KS Maysis Penguin Dual-Boa)

You appear to be a vary talented and unique snowboarder!Firstly I will mention to you that you will love the newer technologies in snowboards. Even the freestyle stuff is a LOT more stable (less floppy) then the gear from a few years back.I think freeriders (you and me both) cannot go wrong with Burton Custom (X) boards. I have just a plain ole Custom and absolutely love it. I am your height and a little under 200lbs and I ride a 158. Great for all but powder days. In the pow I wish for 5-10cm more length for floatation.I am eternally a Flow binding guy (as most members of this forum are aware) and I REALLY like them. They work awesome with my K2 Dual Boa boots. Have you ever tried Flow bindings?
February 5, 2013 at 6:59 pm - Views: 104 in reply to: Vid-Tips: Tips For Buying Snowboard Boots #3911Nice boot fitting guide here. Be careful with the tip where he says that your toes should be touching the liner (tip of toe). I happen to disagree with him on this. Yes, boots do pack out but in order for that to happen it requires pressure. Pressure up front equals squished toes and it may hammer your toes in order to get to the “pack out” point.Instead, fit your boot where the tip toes NEARLY touch the end WHEN FULLY AND TIGHTLY LACED.What do you think?
Pretty nice looking helmet. I wonder if the Ruroc RG-1 comes in Storm Trooper white with black trim?
You have a locker at the lodge?
Yes, that makes sense. I don't know of the Burton Triad Bindings have an adjustable toepiece or not. I don't think they do. If you have part of the binding that unavoidably hangs over the board edge, you can take a saw to it. Soinds funny, but I have done that myself before and it works.
January 1, 2013 at 11:43 pm - Views: 104 in reply to: Burton Restricted Hero for a woman rider #3907Welcome! That's a really nice board and I think it will work well for you. Normally a men's board is less flexible than a women's board, but the “v-rocker” shape should compensate for that so no worries.

Next time I do park jumps I will pay attention more to the setup turn and how that affects my jump platform (thus speed and direction).Well done!
Oh No! Not Jay Peak!!! Have they gone to the dark side? Those carvings are pretty cool though! How is that new ice arena there?
I found a Sim's board on sale yesterday, down to $99 from $250! Can't wait to get out and try it!thanks for the advice!~Cheers
WOW! Where did you score a deal like that? 😯
Sorry I put this off for a while, but I am happy to announce that the snowboard size calculator now has an option to show pricing. That way now you can quickly/easily scan for lower priced board options!I hope you find that helpful.Happy Thanksgiving!
Hi NJ,The LTD brand is for Limited Snowboards. They are a long-time company, not premium by any means, but not too bad either. They are good boards for beginners just getting into snowboarding. If you get good boots and bindings, you can always upgrade boards later, so that's a cool thing.[smg id=89]As for size, that LTD Skat is a little bit small for you. I think technically it's a “Boy's” board. You can still possibly use it for a bit, but you may find that you experience heel/toe drag — what the ends of your boots hang over too far (1 inch or more) and drag in the snow and cause you to loose control. If you have spend for a new board, I can recommend some to you.
I almost always wear a helmet anymore. The feeling of safety is cool, but it is also dry, lightweight, and breathable. I'm still liking Giro helmets the best!
There are a couple things to try to get your balance more centered on the board.1) Keep your front knee bent all the time while riding. You will notice your balance will improve greatly.2) Increase the forward lean on your front binding. This will assist in keeping your front knee bent more as well as improve turn initiation.
