I am currently looking to get my first full snowboard set up but i am stuck as to which bindings to choose. I have considered K2 cinch (rear entry) or Ride contabands. Could some one tell me which would be better for all round snowboarding or if they have any other suggestions. Also if it helps i have size 13 feet. O.oTIAMetalrider
Wow, now that's a tough choice. These are new models I have not ridden yet, but they both look solid and lightweight. I am a Flow guy since their inception and the Cinch looks remarkably like Flows, so I can testify to the convenience of the design. I vote for the K2 Cinch.
I haven't tried those two models but I do have a pair of K2 Indys and K2 Formulas. Both are great bindings in my opinion. The ankle strap on both is nice and padded and feels secure without cranking them down and cutting off your circulation. The buckles are pure butter as well…I think thats pretty much the standard on the K2s though.The other thing on the K2s is the toe strap. It can be worn on over the top of the foot or as a capstrap. 1000times more comfortable than wearing it across the top of your foot (no pressure points).I have also ridden the 2010 Ride Spi and really liked them. The Spi and Formula both have canted footbeds.My niece is an instructor at Lookout over in WA state and has the contrabands and loves them. She does alot of mixed riding from the park to carving the mountain and has had nothing but good luck with them.
I vote Ride Contrabands. I love the idea of the K2 Cinch, but the problem is, I cant find anyone that rides them. So I can't get an opinion on them. It makes me a little weary of them.I personally have Ride Alpha MVMT bindings, and love them. A few of my friends also ride nothing but Ride bindings, or Rome (which also has all aluminum heel cups). I think alotof people are going in this direction in the snowboard industry.
Great point Travz. It reminds me of so many years ago, my first set of aluminum heel cup Preston bindings. Great performance and better integrity in different temperatures.
I forgot this in my post earlier, but the only complaint I have about Ride bindings, is that some of the ratchets bind up sometimes. Its not very often,and not on every model, but if you can play with the exact set you're going to buy first, its best.Sometimes the ratchets on my Alpha MVMT set bind up. Its not really a big deal, I just un-do them and ratchet them back up, but its still a problem. Then again the people I knowwith Alpha's don't have the same problem. My Ex series bindings don't bind up at all, but they seem to on every other model.So case in point, just play with exactly what YOU'RE going to buy.
