Wet head is a bummer. My helmet has really open vents so in high moisture events like melting snow, rain, or sweat occurs it gets wet right where the vents are. Then if it gets colder and freezes, I take off the helmet later in the day and I have a pattern of freezie pops on my head that are all icy! Have you tried different types of beanies? Some beanies have different materials, thicknesses, and weaves that will allow more or less breathability and moisture wiking properties. As for helmets, I got the new Giro Nine and the venting in it is really cool (no, literally). Different helmet brands like Leedom, Red, and Boeri are going to breathe in completely different ways. Might be a good idea while in the shop to tromp around a while with it on and see how your noggin feels.
