Compared to strap in, are step in bindings ok?

Hi,This is a matter of personal taste.  I can tell you that most people choose strap bindings over step-ins.  I am not saying that step-ins are bad, but there may be a reason for that.  Check out some online shops http://www.frostyrider.com/shops/online_shops.htm for my favorite bindings which are Flow (hybrid), Burton Strap and step-in, and Technine (Strap).Pizzoouut!Frost-o-matic

Hey Frost! I've really been considering step in bindings, but want to know if they feel as secure as straps? I really want good suport over anything, but they sure do look quick and easy! If their is a secure step in, what would you recomend the most? I think I would need a higher back since all I do is free ride. Thanks!

I use Flow binding, they are a hybrid and are more of a strap-in than a step-in style of binding.  I have indeed tried some of the step ins (like Burton SIS, Device, K2 Clicker) and was not impressed with the level of support  they offered.  Device was the worst.– K@ and Burton were better, but still not great IMO.  Now, before you rush to judgment, be aware that I tried these options years ago, at least 5 years ago, so I cannot really speak for what is out on the market now.  You might want to cruize to a snowboard shop near you and try on a step-in setup there and see if you can feel any difference.  OR just go with Flow like me 🙂

I have done a little research now, and am shopping on a good deal for either the Flow M11, or NXT. I'm sure the Five and other models are great to, but I wanted to be safer than sorry with the mini ratchet system for that extra good fit with my boots. Thanks for the response though, I feel even more confident with my search.
