finally I did land 180s but soon as I land I will be back to my regular stance. Is there any tips to fix my habit? As I land, I get the feeling that im going too much speed. anyway I riding goofy.
February 25, 2010 at 5:07 pm #3581Great question, but the answer is easy. You need to get more comfortable riding switch. The best way to do that is like learning a new language, immerse yourself in it. Do entire runs or ONLY switch riding. Skate switch, ride the lift, to the carrot, poma, t-bar, or magic carpet, whatever, ALL SWITCH.Do these things and before you know it you will be landing those 180's with more confidence than ever before! 8)

Because it is more difficult to land switch, you may want to try Switch 180°s. Where you will ride switch and then 180 into your normal stance. You should feel much more comfortable when landing (not feeling like you are backwards) and hopefully allow you to ride away more times than wiping out.This will also give you another arsenal in your bag… a 180° and a switch 180°!Another thing that I do is do in regular stance… so a 180° and then switch stances after you land. It looks pretty cool and it's a trick to help when you are over-rotating your 180°s.Once you have gotten the frontside 180° down then you can work on your backside… slight pressure on your toeside going into the jump, when in the air move your hipsThat is awesome that you have mastered that. It feels soo good when you can do those whenever you want riding down. First you should practice riding switch until you can comfortably link turns at a good speed. Do that first. Then do the 180 and you just really have to commit. Let's say you land on the heeledge or land flat and go heelside, you really have to commit to switching to toe edge. Once you do that it's mission accomplished. Start slow and low(if that is comfo for you) and work your way up.
