So I'm a 12 1/2 yr. old guy and my Dad found a sale this weekend and picked me up a Morrison -Radium board.  It's at 151 cm, long and I think the waist says 248.  It comes to the my forehead.  Sales guy told my Dad I'd grow into it.  Mom is freaking and says it's way to big and says I might struggle with it and not have fun on it this year and wants to return it, but Dad said it was such a good deal.   I've been riding for about 4 years, I think I'm pretty good and would say I'm an intermediate, but I pretty much trail ride and some small jumping,, but I also wakeboard and wake surf, so I've got balance and some skill.  We only go about 3-5 times a year.  Like I said, I'm 12 1/2, almost 90 lbs and I think I'm like 4'10 -5'0, size 6 foot.  What's your opinoion on my size and this board.  I hear longer bo

151 is too long. a good rule of thumb if you cant find a board calculator is the board should be betweenyour chin and your nose, until you're good enough to know what really suits you. (i ride a board thatsshorter than my chin, but thats another story)since you're 12, yes you will grow into it. but you're a good bit off right now. then again there is notelling if you will hit a growth spurt over the summer and fall into the right height for the board.its a tricky situation, because you could get a board for your height now, grow, and have it be tooshort next season.i dont know what to tell you because of these issues. you have experience riding, so you can probablycontrol it. its not like its going to be COMPLETELY unresponsive. but it is going to be harder thanyou are used to until you grow into it. how tall are the the members of your family? do you know abou

thanks for the info Travz…though I'm still torn only because I really want my own board…and like I said we can't find a deal this good even online and $$ plays a huge role in it.  I'll still have to think about it I guess.  My dad is tall, like 6'2 or so, mom's not tall 5'4 and i seem to be kinda short compared to my friends.  Think I'll get tall later.  My dad and uncle didn't get real tall till 18 they say.  How tall are you and why are you riding a shorter board?  I also have not seen anything posted about Morrison boards on this site…any opinions on them?  I saw that HOUSE carries them, but not Back country or Dog_Funk.  My parents snow ski so they don't know about boards and I'm sure when I rent they are probably tiny boards, but they've always been fine, if I could find the same deal I'

Well im around 5'7 and ride 154 and its slightly on the long/ stiff side for me so that pretty much sums up the size issue lol.  A board that long really just wont be as much fun for you basically.Thats a pretty nice price.  I ve never heard of the brand though myself.  Its up to you whether you thiink you wanna ride the one you have now just to have your own or if you think you can get another snowboard and stuff.  Tough decision for sure – good luck

josh is right about the length. im 5'8 and my pro board is a 154. its the max size for me..though i do have a 156, but its for rails. i like the better flexibility, which is what i was talking about earlier liking different size boards.for $120 id keep it and ride it. ive never heard of morrison either. but alot of the sites like dog funk reallyonly carry the big dogs when it comes to boards. stuff they KNOW they can get rid of, ie burton. so giveit a try, you might like it ok. and it'll be a great board when you grow alittle more.the reason i ride a board thats real short is, we have alot of ice here where i live, so speed has neverbeen an issue, control is. and shorter boards are easier to control. so when im shooting to a ramp todo a trick, i can hit ice patches to increase my speed like i was riding a longer board, but have thevery very light swing weight of the

Josh & Travz, Thanx for the insight.  No wonder you never heard of the Morrison board,  I meant “Morrow.”  I guess i got it scrambled.  Anyway it's a Morrow – Radium.  My dad found another store in the chain that has a 146 and is going to swap the 151 for it.  Still big, but should be better.

a 146 will be a great board for you. not only is it in your ride zone, as long as you dont clear 5'10 it'll stay in your ride zone. just dont get fat!  😆 (its a joke!)morrow is an o.g. they know their stuff. they're under the radar because they're more techand design than hardcore kiddie graphics and street slang, but their quality is up therewith k2, burton, forum, roxy, rossi, the big dogs.you got a great board at a great price, if you get the 146 you'll be pleased.when you get it set up, post some pics! id love to see your ride!and stick around the forums. this place is alittle slow now, but its really starting to take off.and its a very friendly no shit talking site. we're all here to learn from one another and pushone another to the next level.so welcome to the boards, welcome to the fun, and welcome to the family!”the only
