First let me say this is a great site. I have learned a ton of things just by browsing the forums. I just bought my first board, and am looking forward to learning how to snowboard this upcoming season. My question here is relating to what I need to do o get my board tuned up. It is brand new just off the rack, so what would need to be done to get the board ready to ride? All advice is appreciated.
Hi and welcome to the forums! You bought a Burton board, correct? If thats true then you don't really have to do anything, Burton boards usually come nicely tuned and waxed right from the factory. Other people may want to jump in here, but I believe you should be fine.Good luck on your upcoming season, and don't be a stranger here!-R
SOME boards do require tuning first. To be able to tell takes a skilled eye most of the time. I can say that my Burton board cane tunes and ready to ride, but I could not safely assume that they all do. You may want to have a local (or mountain) shop tech take a gander and suggest. If you have any other questions we are always eager to share what we know.
Most do not. In fact, many people recommend a “de-tuning” for new boards — especially for beginners or some park-pipe. It is a very simple process of slightly dulling the edges at the tip and tail thus making the board more forgiving when engaging the edge and initiating turns (less grabby).
